Bossier City, La (KMSS) — The Bossier City Police Department was presented Friday a check totaling more than $18,000 from money seized in recent drug investigations over the past several months.
District Attorney Schuyler Marvin presented Chief Shane McWilliams with a check representing 60% of the assets seized from suspects in 12 investigations conducted since August 2012.
Those assets include items such as cash, vehicles and other property.
Authorities say the money will go toward future drug enforcement operations by the law enforcement. Chief McWilliams and Bossier Parish Sheriff Julian Whittington formed the task force in October of last year by bringing narcotics agents with both agencies together to form a single drug fighting unit for Bossier City and Bossier Parish.
The district attorney’s office receives 20% of the total asset funds while the remaining 20% goes to the Bossier Parish Criminal Court Fund.
