Bossier Sheriff's Office to offer handgun safety training, backs gun rights

Wednesday, February 13, 2013 - 5:12pm

The Bossier Sheriff's Office is showing their support the 2nd Amendment with a handgun safety training class next month.

On March 5, the department will offer to Bossier Parish residents a gun and safety familiarization class.

The class will run from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the Viking Drive Substation, located at 2510 Viking Drive in Bossier City. This will not be a shooting class, but an explanation on  how to safely handle your handgun. Participants will be allowed to bring their own gun to the class, but it’s not required for attendance. DO NOT BRING A LOADED WEAPON OR AMMUNITION.

“As a strong supporter of the entire 2nd Amendment and the right to bear arms, I want our citizens to know how to safely operate and maintain their own handguns,” said Bossier Sheriff Julian Whittington.

The class is limited to 30 persons, offered free of charge and is open to Bossier residents 21 years of age and older. Call the North Louisiana Criminal Justice Academy at 965-3525 to register.
