Burglar suspected of stealing semi-automic weapon in police custody
Shreveport, La — Shreveport police have caught the man believed responsible for last month's burglary of a semi-automatic weapon from a Walmart parking lot.
Although it took investigators several weeks to crack to case, the suspect in a recent vehicle burglary lands in the hot seat. On September 23, 2012, an employee at the Westport Avenue Wal-Mart had his vehicle burglarized and a semi-automatic weapon was stolen form within. Following the theft, the alleged suspect was captured on surveillance footage walking away from where the vehicle had been parked. After posting the footage of the man on televison, viewers contacted Crime-Stoppers with information that led to the identity and capture of the man responsible for the crime.
On October 2, 2012, Police arrested 19 year old Robert Robertson of the 4200 block of Madera Drive in Shreveport after an investigation successfully linked him to the burglary of the vehicle and the theft of the gun. Robertson was taken into custody at a home in the 4200 block of Madera Drive and subsequently booked into the Shreveport City Jail without incident. The weapon stolen during the vehicle burglary was recovered during the investigation and returned to it's owner.
