Early voting ends on Saturday for Oct. 19 election

Secretary of State Tom Schedler is encouraging all Louisianians eligible to vote in the October 19 municipal and 5th Congressional District elections primary election to consider voting early. Early voting began Saturday, Oct. 5 and continues through Saturday, Oct. 12 from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.

Citizens who want to vote early may do so in person at their parish Registrar of Voters’ Office or at other designated locations including the State Archives in Baton Rouge. For a complete listing of early voting locations, visit www.sos.la.gov/ElectionsAndVoting/Pages/EarlyVotingLocations.aspx.

Voters can also utilize the Secretary of State’s smartphone app, GeauxVote Mobile, as well as the GeauxVote Web site ( http://www.sos.la.gov/ElectionsAndVoting/Pages/default.aspx) to find out where to vote, what’s on their ballot and their voting districts.

“We hope voters will continue to use our wildly popular GeauxVote app during this election season,” said Secretary of State Tom Schedler. “Our election app makes voting easier than ever and we’re especially pleased that election results have been added to the menu of options as well as the ability to sign up for text alerts.”

As a reminder, on Saturday, Oct. 19, elections will be held in the following 49 parishes: Acadia, Allen, Avoyelles, Beauregard, Bienville, Bossier, Caddo, Caldwell, Catahoula, Concordia, Claiborne, DeSoto, East Baton Rouge, East Carroll, East Feliciana, Franklin, Grant, Iberia, Jackson, Jefferson, Jefferson Davis, Lafayette, LaSalle, Lincoln, Livingston, Madison, Morehouse, Natchitoches, Orleans, Ouachita, Rapides, Richland, Sabine, St. Bernard, St. Helena, St. James, St. John, St. Landry, St. Mary, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, Tensas, Terrebonne, Vernon, Washington, Webster, West Carroll, West Feliciana and Winn.

Additionally, the following parishes are included in the 5th Congressional District election: Avoyelles, Caldwell, Catahoula, Concordia, East Carroll, Franklin, Grant, Jackson, LaSalle, Lincoln, Madison, Morehouse, Ouachita, Rapides, Richland, Tensas, Washington, West Carroll, West Feliciana and Winn as well as parts of East Feliciana, St. Helena, St. Landry and Tangipahoa.
