Family dollar robbed by armed man

Authorities need your help in identifying and apprehending a suspect who robbed a Shreveport dollar store this morning.

At approximately 10:33 a.m. on October 19, 2012, Shreveport Police patrol officers responded to a reported robbery at the Family Dollar in the 9400 block of Mansfield Road. Upon arrival there, patrolmen contacted witnesses who told them a male suspect entered the store and requested to use the restroom. Upon exiting the restroom, the suspect purchased a beverage at the register. As the clerk was opening the register to complete the transaction, the man allegedly produced a small handgun. The suspect demanded money and after receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, fled the scene of the crime on foot. No one was injured during the robbery.

The suspect, described as a black male with a medium build, was allegedly wearing a black sweat shirt with black sweat pants at the time of the heist. Investigators are working at this time to identify and apprehend the suspect.
