Homer, LA (KMSS) — The FBI made an unexpected visit to the Homer Police Department today.
Neighbors said unmarked cars pulled up to the station around 9 this morning, with men carrying cardboard boxes inside.
MISS has not heard what they were looking for, but an officer did say officers were asked to turn in their tasers.
This visit comes just weeks after the Homer City Council voted to disband the department as of today.... however a temporary restraining order prevented that from happening.
While not saying much, Peter Marchese, a Senior Supervisor FBI agent from their Shreveport office offered this statement.
"The FBI is conducting an investigation, with the assistance of the Louisiana State Police. It's FBI policy not to comment on ongoing investigations. We have received substantial cooperation from the Claiborne Parish Sheriff's Office and the Homer Police Department. We want to note that the investigation is not disrupting the Homer Police Department's commitment to the safety of the citizens of Homer."
