Federal and state agents raided The Scooter Store's corporate headquarters in Texas Wednesday.

It's part of as part of an ongoing probe into possible Medicare fraud.

Employees were told to leave their workspace untouched and go home for the day.

As they filed out of the building, investigators handed them white slips of paper with the phone number 1-800-CALL FBI.

Authorities are looking into whether the store committed Medicare fraud by pressuring doctors to prescribe motorized scooters to people who may not need them - or overcharged for the power chairs.

The Scooter Store announced earlier this month that it has eliminated 150 positions at its headquarters and distributors nationwide.

Benefits fraud comes in many forms. In one form, individuals apply for and receive benefits they aren’t entitled to, unknowingly or knowingly. Another form is where benefits providers, like an insurance company that administers Medicare or Medicaid or a hospital, overbills the government knowingly because they are looking for a payday from deep federal pockets.
