Former Webster Parish deputy coroner arrested for stealing more than $93,000

Tuesday, August 7, 2012 - 4:57pm

Earlier this year, detectives assigned to The Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations began an investigation into an alleged theft of public funds from the Webster Parish Coroner’s Office at the request of the Webster Parish District Attorney’s Office.

Through the investigation, troopers determined that former Webster Parish Deputy Coroner Bobby Guin of Minden used his position to misappropriate over $93,000 of coroner’s office funds by diverting them to his personal accounts from March of 2009 to June of 2012.

The results of the investigation were turned over to a Webster Parish grand jury who then indicted Guin for felony theft and malfeasance in office. Detectives then obtained an arrest warrant.

On August 6, 2012, Guin turned himself in to State Police detectives. Troopers booked Guin into the Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Facility for felony theft and malfeasance in office.

Anyone wishing to report illegal or suspicious activity to The Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations is urged to contact detectives at 318-862-9770.

The Louisiana State Police on-line reporting system is also available to the public through a convenient and secure reporting form that is submitted to the appropriate investigators. Citizens can access this form by going to www.LSP.org and clicking on the Suspicious Activity Link.
