Fundraiser this weekend for ill-stricken Bossier City officer
Bossier City, La — The Bossier City Police Department is holding a fundraiser for a detective who is recovering from a serious illness.
On Saturday, December 15, Joe’s Crab Shack at the Louisiana Boardwalk will set aside 10% of a portion of its sales to benefit Detective Brandon Huckaby, who is recovering from histoplasmosis, an infection of the lungs caused by inhaling the spores of a particular fungus that ended up spreading to his blood and liver.
Huckaby was hospitalized for three weeks as he battle the infection and is continuing his post hospitalization recovery at home. The money raised will help cover the cost of his out of pocket medical expenses.
Anyone can visit Joe’s Crab Shack between the 11 a.m. and midnight on December 15th and present the attached flyer when ordering. The flyer must be presented in order to have the bill counted toward the 10% donation.
The flyers are available for pick in the lobby of the Bossier City Police Department, located at 620 Benton Road. A pdf file of the flyer is attached below.
