Shreveport LA (KMSS) - — The Northwest Louisiana Volunteers of America chapter is implementing a new free program for teenagers that focus on life skills, healthy behaviors, and community service.
The organization is implementing The Wyman’s Teen Outreach Program®, an evidence-based, youth development program.
According to a study, kids who participated in the program were at lower risk for suspension, class failure and teen pregnancy.
“We feel like those are important measures of success for our children and one of the things that attracted us about the program is that it is evidence based, they have statistics to support the fact that they reduce teen pregnancy, reduce suspension and its helps the children improve in school," said Chris Gabriel who is over the program.
