Horse set loose in Mississippi city after carriage crash with car

The driver of a horse-drawn carriage in downtown Natchez has minor injuries after a vehicle driver collided with the carriage, setting the horse named Mack loose on Natchez's streets.

The driver struck the carriage around 8:30 a.m., ejecting Cecil Folds, 62, of Natchez, from the carriage and breaking a real wheel of the carriage. Mack continued to drag the carriage to his usual resting spot less than a block away.

The second rear wheel then broke onto a telephone pole as Mack was dragging the carriage, at which point Mack broke from his carriage support holster and ran off loose another block.

Mack gracefully walked up to a tourist visiting in town, next to a downtown barbecue restaurant. The tourist held the horse until Adams County Sheriff's deputies arrived on the scene.

Mack was uninjured in the incident, and the carriage's damage will be covered by the vehicle driver's insurance company.
