I Love the Ark-La-Tex: "Artspace, The Making of Epic"

Wednesday, June 19, 2013 - 8:00pm

Forget YOLO, this summer, the hot word is Epic, as in the Making of Epic exhibit at Shreveport's Artspace.

Epic takes Academy Award winner William Joyce's children's book, "The Leaf Men and the Brave Good Bugs" and puts it into movie form, with the help of Joyce's Shreveport studio, Moonbot.

After Artpacers enter the free exhibit, they walk among drawings from Joyce's book before entering the office of one of the main characters, Professor Bomba. Professor Bomba's office was designed and put together by Shreveportians, as was all of the exhibit.

After a hard time working in the office, guests are invited to become a part of the movie downstairs. Underneath the more traditional art exhibit, are giant button swings and clothespin teeter tots, all going along with Moonbot's Epic.

Artspace is a free and fun event for people to attend. For future animators and artists, Joyce will be hosting a meet and greet on July 11th at Artspace, complete with chocolate covered bugs.
