Investigation still underway in Camp Minden explosion

A full investigation is still underway in the most recent explosion to hit Camp Minden.

Tuesday's explosion happened around 8:36am, and was in Area G and in a site leased to Goex Powders, Inc.

The explosion could have been much worse, but extinguishers were in place to put out any fires that could have resulted from the explosion.

The cause of the explosion is still unknown, but Goex Powders, Inc. makes black powder used for items in sporting and military fireworks.

There were no injuries resulting from this explosion, which took place in an unmanned area. Goex is calling this explosion a small explosion with minimal damage.

They are working with the Department of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, Camp Minden, the National Guard and State Police in a full investigation into what caused this explosion.
