Shreveport, LA (KMSS) — The Krewe of Harambee parade rolled into downtown Shreveport Monday afternoon. The Krewe of Harambee is the first African American Krewe in the Shreveport region, which made it fitting that their parade was held on a day celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
People arrived early, staking out prime parade watching spots and buying sweet treats to eat while watching the parade.
Once the parade began, those curbs were long forgotten, people going into the streets clamoring for beads and candy from passing floats.
Along with cars and floats, various marching bands were there to entertain people not only with live music, but smooth dance moves as well.
