Shreveport, LA (KMSS) — Last week, letters were sent to New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg that tested positive for the poison ricin. They were intercepted before they got to the mayor, but appear to have been sent by a person who doesn't agree with Bloomberg's views on gun control.
According to authorities, the note inside the letter with ricin said "You will have to kill me and my family before you get my guns...Anyone wants to come to my house will be shot in the face. The right to bear arms is my constitutional God-given right and I will exercise that right 'til the day I die. What's in this letter is nothing compared to what I've got planned for you."
Despite the threatening letter, Bloomberg said he isn't going to give up on his hopes for gun control.
It wasn't one of Bloomberg's constituents that sent him the letter. Authorities say it was postmarked from Shreveport.
In an statement issued late Wednesday night, Shreveport Mayor Cedric Glover said that in a joint force, Shreveport Police Department and the FBI were searching for suspects.
