Bossier City, LA — In an effort to deter business hold ups and other crimes that can during the holiday shopping season, the Bossier City Police Department will activate its Armed Robbery Task Force later this week. Officers assigned to the Task Force will patrol businesses and shopping centers the day after Thanksgiving Day through the end of the year in an effort to prevent crime, particularly armed robberies. This will mark the 26th consecutive year the Bossier City Police Department has utilized the Task Force.
While on duty Task Force officers not only provide a law enforcement presence around local businesses but they can also utilize such tactics as staking out businesses from inside backrooms and even convenient store coolers while on the lookout for potential trouble.
The main objective of the Task Force is to prevent armed robberies and other crimes by keeping criminals guessing if a business they may be targeting will have an armed Bossier City police officer inside or close by ready to respond.
The Bossier City Police Department began utilizing its Armed Robbery Task Force for the holiday shopping season in 1987. The Task Force is funded each year through a grant from the United States Justice Department.
