A Louisiana State Trooper has been arrested on various charges in Ouachita Parish.

42 year old, Ronald O'Keith Thomas, was arrested Monday on five different charges. The various charges facing Thomas are distribution of cocaine, conspiracy to distribute cocaine, public payroll fraud, malfeasance in office and obstruction of justice.

While details are still forthcoming, an affidavit obtained from the Ouachita Parish Correctional Center shows that an investigation was started on June 12, 2012 by the Louisiana State Police Region 2 Criminal Investigation team into suspected illegal activities by Thomas, a member of the Louisiana State Police Troop F out of Monroe.

When Thomas was arrested Monday, a co-defendant was also arrested. At the time of arrest, the co-defendant admitted to police that he and Thomas had planned and sold large amounts of cocaine throughout Ouachita Parish over the past 2 years.

The statement made by the co-defendant confirmed LSP's investigation that Thomas was distributing narcotics.

The affidavit goes on to say that Thomas warned the co-defendant that LSP was investigating the co-defendant. It also also says that Thomas instructed unnamed people to tell the co-defendant to "destroy evidence and get rid of any money."
