Bill Robertson, Minden Mayor, passed away Wednesday night at The Promise in Bossier City.

Robertson had been rehabilitating at the facility following extensive back surgery in April. Following the surgery, Robertson developed an infection, requiring him to be on intravenous antibiotics.

Robertson moved to Minden in 1961, opening a shoe store. While running the store, Robertson decided to run for Minden City Council in 1974. In 19889, Robertson won, but lost the election for interim Mayor. He ran again in 1990 and won the full 4 year term. Since then he has won every election, the last happening in 2010.

Having served so long as Mayor, his staff was visibly upset, but focused on the positive memories they had with Robertson.

Funeral arrangements are still pending.

As Mayor Pro Tem, Joe Cornelius will serve until an interim Mayor can be appointed.
