Mother arrested for allegedly punching, choking her son
HOUMA, LA — A mother is accused of physically abusing her son after he let a friend in the home while she was trying to sleep.
The Houma Police Department reports that Houma Junior High School notified officials about the alleged abuse on Monday, Sept. 17 after discovering that a 12-year-old student showed signs of bruising on his face and his upper torso.
A forensic interview was conducted. The child claims that his mother choked him, then punched him the face and stomach. The child says his mother became enraged after she discovered that he let a friend in their home while she was attempting to sleep.
Kerri Drayton, 27, was arrested for one count of Second-Degree Cruelty to a Juvenile. She was booked into the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex.
The child was treated at a local medical facility for his injuries.
