New and improved 'Big Tex' to be revealed on Friday
KMSS — The State Fair of Texas kicks off on Friday, and with it, the much-anticipated return of a Texas icon - "Big Tex".
His popular booming voice has welcomed Fair Park visitors for decades in Dallas.
Last year, the famous anamatronic cowboy statue was destroyed in an electrical fire. Fortunately, nobody was hurt in the blaze, except for Big Tex himself.
Fair organizers have been working on a new and improved "Big Tex" all summer.
KETK crews are in Dallas as the final preparations are being made on the iconic statue. The park will be closed tonight so that crews can run final tests on him, and he will be revealed on Friday afternoon.
Until that time, the new "Big Tex" is hidden from public view.
