Shreveport, LA — Sexual predators are out in the area, looking for children to victimize, but after an arrest Monday night, there is one less alleged child predator on the streets.
After a lengthy investigation, Operation Child Watch, along with Louisiana State Police, were able to arrest 56 year old Michael Nodes of the 5500 block of Grace Ann Lane in Shreveport. When police arrived, they found a lot of child pornography on his computer.
Operation Child Watch is a task force made up of local, state and federal law enforcement agents, whose main goal is to keep children safe from predators looking to harm them.
While police would like to get all of these child predators behind bars, they know that isn't likely, and so they ask parents to keep an eye on their children.
One way these people often reach out to children is through the internet, and parents need to watch for alternate Facebook accounts that their children may use.
And although this is a tough subject to broach with younger children, there are ways to make it age appropriate. Daily reminders of "stranger danger" are a great way to start teaching kids that strangers are can be dangerous and should be avoided.
But until all of the child predators are behind bars, Operation Child Watch will continue to keep an eye out for Arklatex children.
