Police looking for possible connection in armed robbery; fatal shooting

SHREVEPORT-An early morning armed robbery in north Shreveport along with a fatal shooting have kept investigators busy gathering details and seeking answers .

Shortly before 12:30 a.m. Thursday morning, Shreveport Police officers were called to an alleged armed robbery at a Regions Bank ATM located in the 1600 block of North Market Street.

A man told authorities he was using the ATM when two men approached him, one was allegedly armed with a hand gun.

The victim told police the men demanded that he withdraw money from the ATM or he would be shot. 

During the robbery, the victim who was apparently armed, fired a shot at the men

The victim was not certain if he had actually struck one of the would be robbers.

Both men reportedly fled the scene.

Moments after receiving the reported armed robbery, authorities received a call from a local hospital advising that an adult male subject suffering an apparent gunshot wound, had just been dropped off at the hospitals emergency room.

The man, whose name has not been released at this time was pronounced dead a short time later.

Investigators with the Shreveport Police Violent Crimes Unit responded to the hospital and are working to determine if there is any connection between the two incidents.
