Parents want principal fired
Bossier City, La (KMSS) — A heated battle is growing after parents in one South Bossier community is calling for the removal of Parkway High School's Principal Nichole Bourgeois.
“I think we just decided that it's time somebody does something about this. The general consensus is that the parents are afraid of the school board and afraid of approaching this and dealing with it head on and something has got to give," said the Parent of a Parkway student who wanted to go unnamed.
The group which consists of anonymous parents started an online petition and Facebook page last week, both of which have reach over 500 responses.
Parents allege the principal on numerous occasions ignored bulling within the school. They also claim that she is responsible for the school not being allowed to host home games during the high school's football playoff season.
“All of it speaks for itself, I believe that she is in a position where she is suppose to set an example for leaders of tomorrow and she has done a very poor job of that," said the Parent.
Tim Wheelahan is also a parent of a student at the school but he supports the Principal and says she has maintained one of the top high schools in the Parish.
"Parkway High School is a safe environment that I feel comfortable with my daughter to go to everyday. It sets up a good learning environment for them to continue to grow."
The Bossier Parish School Board released a statement yesterday denouncing board President Eddy Presley's comments after he fired back at the group over the weekend.
The school system which is separate from the board could not make any comments on camera because of the pending litigation.
