Probationary police officer arrested

Shreveport Police officials arrested a probationary police officer yesterday.

Police officials charged him with a felony following a complaint received by the department yesterday evening.

At 6 p.m. Saturday night, Shreveport Police patrol officers were given information telling them a probationary Shreveport Police officer was possibly engaged in inappropriate sexual conduct involving a 15 year old victim.

After learning of the allegations, an investigation was launched.

Based on the information gathered by authorities, DeAron Walker, 23, of Shreveport was arrested on a warrant by detectives. He was charged with one count of carnal knowledge of a juvenile. Walker who joined the department in July 2012, was placed on paid administrative leave by Chief of Police Willie Shaw which is required by rules of the Municipal Fire and Police Civil Service Board which states, "When an employee is charged with a felony he shall, and if a misdemeanor he may, be immediately relieved of duty and placed on "department leave" for up to one week at full pay and with continuing seniority."
