Bossier City, LA (KMSS) — On Monday the Bossier City Police Department conducted a safety checkpoint in the 200 block of John Wesley Boulevard as part of the department’s participation in the "Click It or Ticket" campaign sponsored by the National Highway Safety Commission.
From 9:00 a.m., to 1:00 p.m., officers checked a total of 143 vehicles and issued 11 citations for seat belt violations and one citation for no child safety restraint.
Officers wrote an additional 13 citations for a variety of other offenses.
Five motorists were also arrested for having outstanding bench warrants.
The Bossier City Police Department will participate in the "Click It or Ticket" campaign through June 2, 2013 by utilizing additional patrols that target motorists who choose not to wear seatbelts or secure children in child safety restraints.
Officers will also conduct another Safety Checkpoint in the coming days.
The checkpoints and additional patrols are funded by a grant distributed through the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission.
