Results of Bossier City police safety checkpoint

 The Bossier City Police Department conducted a safety checkpoint in the 900 block of Swan Lake Road today as part of the department’s continued participation in the Click It or Ticket initiative sponsored by the National Highway Safety Commission.

From 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. officers checked a total of 378 vehicles and issued 9citations for seat belt violations and 13 citationsto motorists who did not have children secured in safety restraints. Officers wrote an additional 42citations forother offenses including expired motor vehicle inspection, improper window tinting, no driver’s license, smoking with a minor in vehicle, driving with a suspended license, expired license plate and no proof of insurance.

The Bossier City Police Department is taking part in the Click It or Ticket campaign through June 2, 2013 by utilizing additional patrols that focus on motorists who choose not to wear seatbelts or secure children in child safety restraints.
The additional patrols are funded by a grant distributed through the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission.
