Shreveport, LA (KMSS) — Last year, the Salvation Army of Shreveport-Bossier was able to make sure that 4,000 children has a present to open through their Angel Tree program. This year, they are hoping to increase that number to 6,000.
The Angel Tree program takes children from newborns to 12, who wouldn't have presents to open during the holiday season and matches them with anonymous sponsors who donate presents for them to open.
Starting October 7 and running until the end of the month, people can apply for holiday assistance. The Salvation Army is taking applicants at their office at 200 Stoner St. Application times are Monday-Wednesdays from 9am until 2pm. Applications will not be accepted outside of those days and hours.
Applicants will need to bring in proof of identity and age for each person on the application, proof of residence, and proof of income and expenses.
