A Shreveport man is accused of breaking into a home Friday evening and attempting to rape a young woman.

Brandon Lee Gibson, 27, of Shreveport, allegedly went to the victim's door on Dellwood Avenue and and asked to use a phone. The woman refused, but did agree to charge his cellphone. When the victim walked to the kitchen to plug in the phone, Gibson entered the house and tried to sexually assault her.

The woman was able to escape Gibson and was later treated and released from a local hospital.

Authorities were able to catch Gibson, who ran from the scene, a short time later at a home on Hampton Lane. During his arrest, Gibson resisted officers and hit one in the face. He was subdued by a K-9 and taken to a nearby hospital for the dog bite. Upon his release, Gibson was booked into the Caddo Correctional Center by sheriff’s Deputy Jamie Hendrix and Sgt. Glenn Cornell.

Gibson will face charges of attempted forcible rape, aggravated burglary, unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling, two counts of resisting an officer, resisting an officer with force, battery of a police officer and possession of methamphetamine.
