Shreveport man arrested for attempted armed robbery of elderly woman
Shreveport, LA (KMSS) — Bossier City police caught and arrested a Shreveport man for attempted armed robbery, Monday, just moments after he tried to rob a 69-year-old woman while she sat in her car in a shopping center parking lot.
Marcus J. Smith, 41, was arrested on a charge of attempted armed robbery with a firearm.
The victim told police she had got into her car aroun 3:10 p.m., in the Walmart parking lot in the 2500 block of Airline Drive after unloading her shopping bags when Smith opened the front passenger door and jumped into the front seat.
The victim tells police, Smith was armed with a gun and demanded money from her. Smith then got out of the car and fled the scene on foot without taking anything after the victim told him she had no money and began sounding the car’s horn. The victim was not injured but very shaken up over the incident.
Police were called to the scene, and within minutes, had located Smith outside the Ryan Restaurant in the 2400 block of Airline Drive. He was taken into custody and booked into the Bossier City Jail.
Bond has not yet been set.
