Shreveport man arrested for carrying a weapon on school property
Shreveport, LA (KMSS) — A Shreveport man is behind bars following authorities discovery of a weapon on a school campus.
Shreveport Police arrested Radarin Young, 17, Friday afternoon on May 3, after it was discovered Young was in possession of a semi-automatic weapon.
The arrest came after Shreveport Police officers working off-duty at a Caddo Parish School located in the 3200 block of Greenwood Road, were made aware that Young possibly possessed a weapon in a backpack under his control.
Upon authorities search of Young's belongings, a .22 caliber, semi-automatic handgun was located and removed from Young's backpack.
Authorities quickly took possession of the weapon and subsequently arrested Young who has since been charged with carrying a weapon on school property and being in possession of a firearm in a Firearm Free zone.
Young, a student at the school,was booked into the Shreveport City Jail. Authorities have not determined at this stage of the investigation why Young was in possession of the firearm however; the investigation into the incident continues.
