Shreveport man injured in downtown shooting

A Shreveport man is injured in a shooting last night in downtown Shreveport.

It happened at 10 p.m. Saturday when officers were called to the 1300 block of Louisiana Avenue for a shooting.

On arrival, officers found Sidney Willis, 48, suffering from a gunshot wound to the arm as well as grazing wounds to the chest and thigh.

Willis was taken to a local hospital with non life threatening injuries.

Detectives were called and interviewed Willis. He told officers that he was walking on Fairfield Avenue near Common Street when a black male wearing a yellow hooded sweatshirt approached him, began cursing, and then fired shots at him.

Willis claims he did not know the gunman.

Investigators were able to find the crime scene and are working to identify and apprehend the suspect(s) responsible for this crime.
