Shreveport Mayor Cedric Glover was hurt Wednesday morning after falling on a curb, while visiting an elementary school.

It happened at Oak Park Microsociety Elementary School.

The Mayor was visiting Oak Park to meet with faculty, teachers and students when he slipped on a curb around 10 a.m. The preliminary examination indicated that he injured his quadriceps or thigh muscles.

He's awaiting an MRI to determine the extent of the damage, allowing his doctors to further determine whether surgery is needed.

Mayor Glover is not expected to be incapacitated for any extended period and will likely conduct his duties electronically and by telephone. He will likely remain at Christus Shumpert Medical Center for the next several days.

In the event that the Mayor is not immediately available to perform his duties, Councilman Sam Jenkins, mayor pro tem, would step into that role.
