A Shreveport man was arrested Wednesday after authorities learned of his criminal involvement through a social networking site.

On February 26, 2013, officers were called to a home in the 1900 block of Clanton Street to a residential burglary. During the investigation, authorities spoke to the victim who said her home had been broken into while she was at work.

During the burglary, the suspect took several pieces of jewelry along with other valuables. In the days following the incident, the victim was informed that pictures of a man wearing the stolen jewelry and clothing had been posted to a popular social media site. The photographs were shown to detectives with the Shreveport Police Department's Property Crimes Unit, at which time they launched an investigation into the location of the man in the pictures.

Throughout the investigation, officers were able to gather evidence linking Courtney Daniels, 21, of Shreveport, to the crime and as the person who posted the pictures of himself to the social network account.

On Wednesday afternoon, investigators arrived at the home of Daniels, located in the 1900 block of State Street. Detectives were able to recover the stolen items inside of Daniels' home. The suspect was wearing some of the valuables he had stolen from the victim's home.

Daniels was arrested and charges with simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling and subsequently taken to the Shreveport City Jail.
