Shreveport, La — A man was arrested by Shreveport police offer after he was connected to a pair of Sunday evening armed robberies.
At around 10:30 p.m., law enforcement was called to a reported robbery of a person at an apartment complex in the 8100 block of Pines Road. When officers arrived, a 31-year-old man claimed he was returning home from work when he stepped out of his his vehicle and was attacked by two men with coverings over their faces.
The victim alleged one of the men was armed with a handgun. One of the bandits robbed him of his cell phone and the keys to his vehicle, police were told. Following the robbery, the men escaped in the victim's car. The victim was not injured during the incident.
The following day at 11:30 a.m., patrol officers, working off information obtained during the robbery investigation, found the victim's stolen car parked at a home located in the 900 block of Whispering Lake Drive in north Shreveport.
The car, after sitting idle in the driveway for several minutes, was approached by two men who exited the home. The two men, upon attempting to enter the car, were quickly apprehend by police and taken into custody without incident. The men were transported to police headquarters where interviews with investigators were conducted.
Following interviews, information and evidence was gathered linking Christopher Dumas,22, to the aforementioned crime. It was further determined the second man detained for questioning had no involvement in the incident.
Detectives later earned Dumas was connected to a subsequent armed robbery that occurred on December 29th in the 4900 block of Jewella Avenue during which time a convenience store clerk was robbed at gun point by two suspects fitting similar physical descriptions of the suspects described in the previous robbery.
Police arrested and charged Dumas with two counts of armed robbery for his alleged role in the incidents. Dumas was booked into the Shreveport City Jail. The investigation into the robbery remains active as authorities seek to identify the second suspect.
