Shreveport, La — Christmas came early for the neonatal ICU at Shreveport's Sutton Children's Hospital when they received a check for $35,700.
Representatives from the community service group, New Outlook Pioneers, were behind the large donation to the hospital.
The donation was larger than the $17,000 the hospital originally anticipated, and they were even more excited when they found the donation amount was more than double what they had been expecting.
They plan to use the money for an infant transport incubator which moves babies from the delivery rooms to the NICU. The additional money will be used to purchase equipment to help to treat jaundice in infants.
This equipment will be used daily at the hospital, once it arrives. Sutton Children's Hospital estimates that they equipment will take about a month and a half to get into the neonatal intensive care unit.
