Shreveport, LA (KMSS) — A Shreveport teenager is left recovering from injury following a shooting in north Shreveport over the weekend.
Just before 3:00 p.m., on Saturday, Shreveport Police responded to a reported shooting in the 1700 block of Norton Drive. Upon officers arrival at the scene, police located the victim, 17-year-old Tempest Thompson, suffering a gunshot wound to the hand and the left side of her face. Thompson was subsequently transported to LSUHSC with injuries that were considered non life threatening.
Shreveport Police Violent Crimes detectives arrived on scene at the shooting and immediately launched an investigation. Authorities learned information that linked a 16-year-old juvenile male to the shooting.
The juvenile, who was taken into custody a short time later, reportedly shot Thompson while pointing a gun at her thought to be empty.
Authorities have since arrested and charged the juvenile with the shooting and subsequently booked him into the Caddo Parish Juvenile Detention Center on charges of Illegal use of a weapon and possession of a firearm by a juvenile. The investigation into the shooting continues at this hour as investigators learn more details concerning the matter.
