(CNN) — A Democrat running for governor in Texas has voiced her support for medical marijuana.
Texas gubernatorial candidate, Wendy Davis, says she supporst medical marijuana use.
She says she also supports decrimininalizing the drug by lessening the penalties for possesion of small amounts of marijuana.
Her comments are in line with those of Republican Governer Rick Perry, who said last month that he supports less stringent penalties.
If Davis wins the Democratic Primary in March, she will likely face Republican Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott in the upcoming general election.
