
BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — A two-year-old child died this morning after being accidentally shot by a family member.
The Baton Rouge Police Department reports that the incident occurred on Monday, January 21 at roughly 6:33 p.m. at a home located on Jean Street. We’re told Terrance Varise, 18, was playing with a handgun when it fired and shot the child, Tarvin Varise.
The child was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition. The toddler was pronounced dead in the early morning on Tuesday, January 22.
Terrance Varise was arrested and charged with Negligent Homicide. Varise is also a convicted felon, so he was additionally charged with Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
