Traffic and people stop when sirens sound in Israel on Holocaust remembrance day

Monday is Holocaust remembrance day in Israel and many Jewish communities around the world.

People and traffic came to a stop in a sign of respect when sirens went off marking the day of remembrance.

Ceremonies began after sundown Sunday.

Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu spoke at a memorial in Jerusalem.

Earlier Sunday, Palestinian leader, Mahmoud Abbas called the Holocaust the most heinous crime in modern history.
