Shreveport, LA (KMSS) — A suspect wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of a Shreveport man is now in police custody after a traffic stop along the stretch of Kings Highway yesterday.
Just before 7:00 p.m. yesterday, Shreveport Police officers were called to the 1300 block of Kings Highway after receiving information of a suspicious person.
Reports showed that a man wanted for murder had been spotted near the intersection of Samford Avenue and Kings Highway driving a white SUV.
Officers were called to scene and found the vehicle near Line Avenue at Kings Highway. A traffic stop on the SUV was issued a driver of the vehicle was held.
After further investigation, the driver was identified as Roderick Gipson, 33 of Shreveport, who was wanted on an arrest warrant charging him with the murder of Burford Johnson, 20, last week.
Johnson was shot and killed while walking in the 300 block of West 77th Street.
Following the arrest of Gipson, he was taken to Shreveport Police Department and was interviewed by detectives.
Frederick Gipson was then booked into Shreveport City Jail on charges of Second Degree Murder, his bond has been set at $175,000.
