Bossier City police are investigating a crash involving a train and an SUV that happened on Beverly Street at Barksdale Boulevard this afternoon.

Police responded to the scene at around 2:40 p.m.  Witnesses say a southbound KCS freight train was sounding its horn as it approached the crossing. The train was traveling about 10 miles per hour when it hit the SUV on its rear passenger side quarter panel.

The driver was able to drive her vehicle across Barksdale Boulevard to a parking lot before police arrived. Officers cited the teenager for failure to yield. The train remained stopped on the tracks for about an hour while police and railroad officials conducted separate investigations.

The driver of the SUV was taken to a Shreveport hospital with a minor head injury. No other passengers were involved.
