Austin, TX (KMSS) — Nicholas Vonwayne Prejean, 24, a Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offender, is now in custody after being arrested on Thursday in Houston by Department of Public Safety (DPS) Criminal Investigations Division agents. Prejean was wanted for failure to register as a sex offender and probation violation.
Agents located Prejean at a residence where he was arrested without incident at approximately 6:30 p.m., Thursday.
This arrest was the result of a tip, and a reward up to $3,000 will be paid.
Two additional peopel in the home were also arrested on unrelated misdemeanor warrants.
Prejean is a high-risk sex offender, with a lengthy criminal history.

So far in 2013, DPS and other agencies have arrested 13 Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives and Sex Offenders, including five gang members, and $20,500 in rewards has been paid for tips that resulted in arrests. The cash rewards are funded by the Governor’s Criminal Justice Division.
Anyone with information can provide anonymous tips in four different ways:
1) Call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-252-TIPS (8477).
2) Text the letters DPS – followed by your tip – to 274637 (CRIMES) from your cell phone.
3) Submit a web tip through the DPS website by selecting the fugitive you have information about, and then clicking on the link under their picture.
4) Submit a Facebook tip at http://www.facebook.com/texas10mostwanted by clicking the “SUBMIT A TIP” link (under the “About” section).
All calls, texts, e-mails and Facebook messages are anonymous.
