One person is dead and two are injured after a wreck in Shelby County.

On Thursday around 2:50 p.m., an 18-wheeler and a truck were involved in a crash on Highway 7,  just east of Center.

A passenger, Julia Adams Murphy, 53, of Carthage, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the truck, Brandon Cole Price, 28, and Holden Price, 1, both of Carthage, were both taken by air to a Shreveport hospital. The 18-wheeler was driven by Guillermo Galindo, 52, of Nacogdoches.

According to the Lufkin Department of Safety, the semi was traveling east on Highway 7 and the pickup was heading west. The truck turned in front of the 18-wheeler where there was no available turn.

Authorities say all involved were wearing seatbelts but are unsure as to why the Price turned in front of the rig.

As of Friday morning, the infant is in intensive care and Brandon Price is in serious condition.
