A woman is still in critical condition because police say she was intentionally set on fire.

The incident happened around 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 21 in the small town of Winnsboro. Police said the victim, Sharmeka Moffitt, was approached by three men wearing hoodies and set her on fire.

Police noted that the letters “KKK” were spray painted on Moffitt's car. Moffitt is at LSU Shreveport with burns across her body.

No suspects have been identified at this time.

A Facebook page called Prayers for Sharmeka Moffitt was created shortly after 9:00 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 22. The page now has just over 8,300 followers. The majority of the posts on the page are encouraging people to share the story to help gain attention from national media outlets.

“National News is the ONLY way to pressure local police into finding and prosecuting the Assailants,” states one of the early posts on the page.
