SHREVEPORT, La. (KMSS) — The City is doing double duty this week with two sweeps dedicated to cleaning up local neighborhoods.
The Department of Property Standards is conducting the sweeps in order to encourage residents of these respective neighborhoods to take advantage of the large bins set up on specific dates to dispose of waste that might otherwise be difficult to discard.
“What these sweeps will do is help everyone to realize how important it is to make sure keeping your surroundings up, it helps the neighborhood to look better, it cuts down on the complaints your going to be getting from your neighbors and it also gives a good image of the City to people that are coming to visit," said District G Councilman Sam Jenkins.
In addition to garbage and debris for the large trash bins, citizens also can throw away used tires that have been abandoned. Those unable to bring the tires on Tuesday or Wednesday can call (318) 673-6204 or contact the grass crew at (318) 455-6065. Only tires will be scheduled for pick-up.
