Shreveport, LA — Authorities are investigating an overnight shooting that has claimed the life of a local man in west Shreveport.
Shortly before 10:30 p.m. last night, Shreveport Police officers were dispatched to a reported shooting near the intersection of Hearne Avenue at Murray Street. Upon officers arrival at the scene, they located an adult male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the lower body. The man, whose identity has not been released, was transported to LSUHSC by the Shreveport Fire Department where he was pronounced deceased a short time later. Shreveport Police Violent Crimes detectives along with Crime Scene personnel immediately responded to the scene launching their investigation into the shooting. Witnesses to the shooting advised authorities that they observed what appeared to be a full sized, black sedan traveling north bound on Hearne Avenue when someone inside the vehicle allegedly began firing shots in the direction of the victim who was reportedly standing near the intersection of Hearne Avenue and Murray Street . Witness statements claim that the victim attempted to flee when the occupants of the sedan allegedly made a u-turn and fired at the victim a subsequent time, fatally wounding him.
