COLLEGE FOOTBALL NEWS: Notable week 2 matchups

Davey O’Brien Foundation
Wednesday, September 4, 2013 - 3:06pm

The 2013 Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award Marquee Match-up for week two highlights Davey O'Brien Watch List candidates Aaron Murray and Connor Shaw in a Southeastern Conference showdown.

Throughout the season, the Davey O'Brien will highlight the best weekly quarterback match-up as the race for the oldest and most prestigious national quarterback award continues. Quarterbacks from all 125 NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision schools are eligible for the award until the field is narrowed to 16 semifinalists on Monday, November 4.

Marquee match-up:

  • No. 6 South Carolina at No. 11 Georgia - Saturday, September 7 at 3:30 p.m. (CT) on ESPN. After a hard-fought 38-35 loss at Clemson in their season opener, Aaron Murray and the Georgia Bulldogs look to get back on track when they open up conference play against Connor Shaw and the South Carolina Gamecocks at Sanford Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Following a 27-10 victory against North Carolina, Shaw will try to keep his team rolling as they face their first SEC opponent of the season down in Athens, Ga. A victory would mark the Gamecocks' fourth-consecutive victory over the Bulldogs.

Other notable games and start times:

  • No. 12 Florida (Jeff Driskel) at Miami (FL) (Stephen Morris) - Saturday, September 7 at 11 a.m. (CT) on ESPN
