Two of the ACC's top quarterbacks go head-to-head in week 8

Davey O’Brien Foundation
Wednesday, October 16, 2013 - 12:49pm

The 2013 Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award Marquee Match-up for week eight highlights Davey O'Brien Watch List candidate Tajh Boyd and two-time Quarterback of the Week Jameis Winston in a contest between two top five ACC teams.

Throughout the season, the Davey O'Brien will highlight the best weekly quarterback match-up as the race for the oldest and most prestigious national quarterback award continues. Quarterbacks from all 125 NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision schools are eligible for the award until the field is narrowed to 16 semifinalists on Monday, November 4.

Marquee Match-up: No. 5* Florida State at No. 3* Clemson:

  • Saturday, October 19 at 7:00 p.m.

  • Clemson needed some fourth quarter heroics from quarterback Tajh Boyd and the Tiger defense to record a 24-14 win over upset-minded Boston College on Saturday. Boyd finished the game with 334 yards through the air to become the school's all-time passing yardage leader.

  • Winston earned his second Davey O'Brien Quarterback of the Week nod two weeks ago when he led the Seminoles to a 63-0 win over Maryland. Florida State was idle this past weekend. Winston enters this weekend's game ranked second in the country in pass efficiency.
