SHREVEPORT, La. — Tax season is upon us but the Internal Revenue Service announced yesterday that you might have to wait a little longer to file your taxes.
The delays come after the late congressional approval of the American taxpayer relief act of 2012. The original date was January 22 but due to the IRS having to create new tax forms, filing was postponed to January 30th.
Workers at Liberty Tax Service on Youree Drive were still up beat despite the delays.
"Once you explain it to them, and let them know that we will try to do everything we can for them, they are fine with it," said Jackie Rasco, who manages the business.
"Refunds will be delayed until at least the middle of February for almost everyone. That is the lastest ever since the advert of national electronic filing," states Liberty Tax Chief , John Hewitt.
